Every student has a different story – some face serious challenges, ranging from struggling with literacy to food insecurity and homelessness. That’s why Communities In Schools of Jacksonville has spent 35 years providing wraparound solutions through proven programs supported by positive adult role models.

As a dedicated affiliate of the national Communities In Schools organization, the largest dropout prevention nonprofit in America, our staff and volunteers actively work inside and outside classrooms to identify and remove obstacles that can lead to students becoming chronically absent, or worse – dropping out. We provide students and their families with resources, support, and opportunities to help them succeed in school, through graduation and beyond.

Our Mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

AN INTEGRATED SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR STUDENTS IN NEED

CIS exists to ensure no child's potential is hindered by adversities they face.

One-fourth of Duval’s children live in poverty. Many of the students we serve endure economic hardships and complex challenges that make staying in school tough. Homelessness, hunger, absenteeism, and mental health struggles are all among the barriers that Communities In Schools of Jacksonville staff and volunteers work to help students overcome.

We work closely with school administrations, parents, local organizations, and neighborhood partners to provide the strongest support network for our students. This collaboration ensures that every student - regardless of their background or circumstances - has the resources they need to reach their fullest potential. As a result, more students are graduating from high school, paving the way for a brighter, healthier, and more economically stable future that benefits our entire community.
